WarHymn are a band from Romania that has been featured before in this zine and plays an occult form of black metal and this is a review of their 2024 ep "Occult Fire" which was released by Loud Rage Music.
The sounds of fire start off the ep before going into a very fast and raw musical direction which also utilizes a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats. Melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing while the vocals are mostly grim yet high pitched sounding black metal screams.
Clear vocals can also b e heard at times while the songs also add in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very melodic style along with the music also having its atmospheric moments, ritualistic spoken word parts and chants can also be heard briefly.
On this recording WarHymn remains true to the occult style of black metal that they have established on previous releases. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover Occultism, Cain and Luciferian themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from WarHymn and if you are a fan of occult black metal, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Occult Fire (Lucifer's Hymn)". 8 out of 10.
