Germany's Eisregen have returned with a new recording which shows the music going for a dark mixture of black and gothic metal and this is a review of their 2024 album "Abart" which will be released on August 16th by Massacre Records.
Clean playing starts off the album while you can also hear all of the musical instruments that are present on the recording. When keyboard are utilized they also bring in some gothic elements along with the vocals being mostly grim black metal screams and the solos and leads are also done in a very melodic style.
Clear vocals are also added on some of the tracks while the album also adds in a lot of touches of dark metal. Melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing along with some tracks also adding in a small amount of spoken word parts, when the music finally speeds up a small amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can also be heard which also gives the recording more of a raw feeling.
Some of the tracks also add in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with one song also being over 10 minutes in length as well as the closing tracks also showing the songs mixing in more electronic sounds. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics are written in German and cover death, gore, cannibalism and murder themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Eisregen and if you are a fan of black, dark and gothic metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Am Abgrund" "Lebenkoder" "Abart" and "Elektro Baba Yaga". 8 out of 10.
