Everlasting Torment is a solo project from Spain that plays a very old school form of black metal with a touch of death metal and this is a review of his 2024 ep "Dissection Of Faith" which was released by Damnatio ad Bestia.
A very dark yet heavy sound starts off the ep while all of the tracks are also very long and epic in length. Melodies are also utilized at times along with some of the riffing also adding in elements of death metal and when the music speeds up a great amount of tremolo picking and blast b eats can be heard which also gives the recording more of a raw feeling.
Vocals are mostly black metal screams mixed in with a few growls while the recording also adds in a good amount of old school touches. All of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them along with the songs also adding in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts, when guitar leads are utilized they are also done in a melodic style as well as one track also adding in a brief use of spoken words and the whole recording also sticks to a heavier direction.
Everlasting Torment plays a style of black metal that is very aggressive in the classic era of the genre as well as adding in elements of death metal to create a sound of his own. The production sounds very dark and raw while th e lyrics are a concept album based upon the final moments of the Apocalypse and Humanity's Damnation.
In my opinion Everlasting Torment are a very great sounding old school black metal solo project with elements of death metal and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACK "With Rotten Wings I Fly". 8 out of 10.
