Hierophany are a band from Mexico that plays a very aggressive and atmospheric form of black metal and this is a review of their self released 2025 album "Tenebrario" which will be released on December 12th.
Synths start off the album and also mixes in with the heavier sections of the songs at times while the riffs also add in a decent amount of melody. All of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them along with the vocals being mostly angry sounding black metal screams mixed in with some grim touches.
At times the music also gets very atmospheric sounding while the faster sections of the songs also add in a great amount of tremolo picking and blast b eats which also gives the album more of a r aw feeling. Throughout the recording you can also hear a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
Elements of death metal are also utilized quite a bit throughout the recording along with the music also being very heavily rooted in the modern era of the genre. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very melodic yet dissonant style as well as a great portion of the tracks also being very long and epic in length, ritualistic sounds can also be heard briefly and a couple of songs also adds in a small amount of spoken words, clear singing/chants and whispers. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover the Flesh Of Humanity, Death and Shadow themes.
In my opinion Hireophany are a very great sounding dark and atmospheric black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Ars Moriendi" and "Tenebrario". 8 out of 10.
