Sodality are a duo from Poland that plays a very raw, ritualistic and occult form of black metal and this is a review of their 2025 album "Benediction, Part 2" which was released by NoEvDia.
A very dark yet heavy sound starts off the album while the vocals are mostly grim sounding black metal screams. Melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing along with all of the musical projects also sounding very powerful and the solos and leads also add in more of a chaotic extreme metal style with some melodic touches.
At times the music also gets very ritualistic sounding while some of the riffing also adds in some dissonant structures. Blast beats and tremolo picking are also added into the faster sections of the recording which also gives the album more of a raw feeling along with some of the songs also being very long and epic in length
Throughout the album you can also hear a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts as well as some synths and clean playing also being introduced on a few songs, spoken words are also utilized briefly. and a couple of tracks also adds in some Gregorian chants The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover spiritual collapse and the violence of belief.
In my opinion Sodality are a very great sounding raw, ritualistic and occult black metal duo and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Precious Blood" and "Blood On A Mirror". 8 out of 10.
