YHWH are an international band with members from Belgium and Thailand that has been featured before in this zine and on this recording goes for a raw mixture of black and death metal and this is a review of their 2025 ep "Khatba" which will be released on December 12th by WormHoleDeath Records.
Animal sounds start off the ep before going into a heavier direction while the vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams. Blast beats are also added into the faster sections of the songs along with the music also adding in a decent amount of old school touches and dark sounding melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing.
Elements of death metal are also utilized quite a bit throughout the recording while the songs also add in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts. All of the musical instruments also have a vert powerful sound to the, spoken words and clear singing are also used briefly along with the tremolo picking in the fast riffing also giving the songs more of a raw feeling and the whole ep sticks to a heavier direction.
On this recording YHWH continue to expand on the raw mixture of black and death metal that they introduced on their previous release. The production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover human cruelty, societal injustice, and the dark corners of myth and the mind.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from YHWH and if you are a fan of raw black and death metal, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Murder Of Illusions" and "Krasue". 8 out of 10.
