Raven are a band from Norway that plays a very raw and primitive form of black metal and this is a review of their 2006 album "The Murder Sessions" which was released by De Tenebrarum Principio.
Drums range from slow, mid paced to fast drumming with a good amount of blast beats being thrown into the music at times, while the bass playing has a very dark tone with riffs that follow the riffing that is coming out of the guitars.
Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast black metal riffs that are very raw and primitive sounding without using the stereotypical Norwegian sound along with a great amount oh heavy distorted parts and there are no guitar solos or leads present on this recording.
Vocals are all high pitched black metal screams that utilize a depressive tone at times, while the lyrics cover dark themes, as for the production it has a very dark, raw and primitive sound that utilizes a demo like quality to the music.
In my opinion Raven where a very great sounding raw and primitive black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "II" "V" VII" and "X". RECOMMENDED BUY.
