Forsaken Crypt are a solo project from Canada that plays a very dark satanic and occult form of black metal and this is a review of their self released 2015 demo "In Praise Of A Vampyric Lifestyle".
A very silent sound starts off the demo before getting more powerful and adding in a touch of ritualistic ambient and after a minute heavy guitars are added into the music along with soem grim black metal screams and the riffs also bring in a decent amount of melody at times and you can also hear all of the musical instruments that are present on the recording.
One of the tracks is an instrumental dark ambient piece that also gives the demo more of an occult atmosphere while the music does go back to a heavier direction and also brings in a touch of the 90's black metal style and the songs also stick to more of a slow or mid paced direction with no fast parts ever being utilized.
Forsaken Crypt plays a style of black metal that is raw while also having more of a ritualistic and atmospheric mid tempo take on the genre, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover Satanism, occultism and Left Hand Path themes.
In my opinion Forsaken Crypt are a very great sounding occult black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "In/Necromancer" and "Satan's Wolves Will Descend". 8 out of 10.
