Ahamkara are a band from the united Kingdom that plays an atmospheric form of black metal and this is a review of their 2025 album "The Harrow Of The Lost" which will be released in April by Bindrune Recordings.
Clean playing and wind sounds start off the album before going into a heavier direction while all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them. All of the tracks are also very long and epic in length along with the riffs also adding in a lot of melody and blast beats are also added into the faster sections of the songs.
When tremolo picking is added into the fast riffing they also give the music more of a raw feeling while the vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very melodic style and the songs also add in a good mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
When synths are utilized they also give the music more of an atmospheric feeling along with the album also adding in a lot of cascadian influences mixed in with some 90's touches, nature sounds are also utilized briefly. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover the transformative nature of grief.
In my opinion Ahamkara are a very great sounding atmospheric black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Circle Of Remembrance" and "Ordeal of Ascension". 8 out of 10.
