This is a review of a 4 way split album between U.S.A's Starer, Mexico's Ambergaze, Poland's Mistral and Norway's Myrvandrer called "Four Seasons" which will be released in march as a joint effort between Fiadh Productions and Snow Wolf Records and we will start off the review with Starer who returns with an atmospheric and symphonic style of post black metal.
His side of the split starts out with a very dark yet heavy sound while the track is also very long and epic in length. When keyboards are utilized they also add in some symphonic and atmospheric touches along with the faster sections of the song of the song also adding in a decent amount of tremolo picking and blast beats which also gives the music more of a raw feeling.
Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams along with all of the musical instruments also having a very powerful sound to them. Melodies are also added into some of the guitar riffing as well as some clean playing and clear vocals also being utilized briefly. The production sounds very professional and the lyrics cover sorrow themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding track from Starer and if you are a fan of atmospheric and symphonic post black metal, you should check out his side of the split.
Next up is Myrvander a solo project that plays an atmospheric mixture of blackgaze and post black metal.
His side of the split starts out with some atmospheric sounding synths which also mixes in with the heavier sections of the song. Vocals are mostly grim black metal screams while all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them along with the riffs and solos also adding in post rock style melodies
When clean playing is utilized it brings in elements of shoegaze as well as some spoken words being used briefly and when the music speeds up a lot of tremolo picking and blast b eats can b e heard which also gives the track more of a raw feeling. The production sounds very professional and the lyrics are written in Norwegian and cover nature themes.
In my opinion Myrvander is a very great sounding atmospheric mixture of post black metal and blackgaze and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this solo project.
Next up is Mistral who return with an atmosphere mixture of post black metal and blackgaze.
Their side of the split starts out with a very heavy and dark sound while the track is also long and epic in length. Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams along with the riffs also adding in a decent amount of melody and all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them.
When the music speeds up a decent amount of blast beats can be heard as well as some clear vocals also being utilized briefly along with the music also having its atmospheric moments and the clean sections bring in elements of shoegaze, the solos and leads are also done in a very melodic post metal style. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover isolation themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding track from Mistral and if you are a fan of atmospheric post black metal and blackgaze, you should check out their side of the split.
Closing the split is Ambergaze a solo project that an atmospheric mixture of post black emtal and blackgaze.
His side of the split starts out with some clean playing before going into a heavier direction while all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them. The track is also very long and epic in length along with the vocals also being mostly high pitched black metal screams
