Deeper Vileness are a musical project from Harlingen, Texas that plays a very raw and necro form of black metal and this is a review of their self released 2015 demo "Of Darker Realms".
A very dark and evil sounding organ starts off the demo and after the intro the music has an even more haunting atmosphere which leads up to a very raw and lo-fi black metal sound that also uses high pitched screams and noisy reverb along with a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
You can hear a great amount of blast beats being utilized in the faster sections of the songs and you can hear the early 90's garage like quality of the demos that where released back then in the bands musical style and you can also hear a small amount of ritualistic chanting being used on one of the tracks and the vocals at times also add more of a grim feeling to the songs and there is also a brief instrumental track that gives the music more of an ambient feeling and they close the ep with an organ outro.
Deeper Vileness plays a style of black metal that is very dark, raw and lo-fi and has a sound that would be too underground for a lot of people that are into the more well known bands of the genre but would appeal to people that prefer the side of the genre that most people would consider listenable, the production sounds very dark, raw and necro while the lyrics cover darkness and occultism themes.
In my opinion Deeper Vileness are a very great sounding lo-fi, raw black metal project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this demo. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Of Darker Realms" and "Where Evil Dwells". 8 out of 10.
