Lifestream are a band from France that plays an ethereal and mesmeric form of black metal and this is a review of their 2015 album "Post Ecstatic Experience" which was released by Emanations.
A very dark and atmospheric sounding drone starts off the album along with a mixture of clean playing and heavy riffs and a few seconds alter the music goes into more of a fast and raw black metal direction that utilizes blast beats and whispered vocals and you can also hear a small amount of growls in some parts of the songs.
Grim black metal screams can be heard quite a bit throughout the recording and the music also mixes the atmospheric and heavy parts together and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with some Norwegian influences being utilized at times and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and some of the tracks are very long and epic in length and there is also a brief use of spoken word parts
Lifestream plays a style of black metal that is very modern, raw, melodic, atmospheric and epic sounding as well as demonstrating a great amount of talent and skill, the production sounds very powerful without taking away from the raw nature of the music while the lyrics cover dark, metaphysical and occult themes.
In my opinion Lifestream are a very great sounding ethereal and mesmeric black metal band an d if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Lifeless Solace" "An Unfathomable Dereliction" and "Parasite Glory". 8 out of 10.
