Norot are a solo project from Ireland that plays a very atmospheric and ritualistic form of occult black metal and this is a review of his 2015 album "Natrach" which will be released in April 26th by Naturmacht Productions.
Clean playing starts off the album and after the intro atmospheric sounds are added onto the recording along with some melodic riffing and the vocals that are utilized are very grim sounding black metal screams and the songs also use a great amount of ambient style synths and you can also hear a great amount of melody coming out of the guitars.
A few of the tracks are long and epic in length and also bring in a great mixture of both clean and heavy parts and when the music speeds up blast beats are utilized and the music also brings in a raw style of black metal that also includes both old school and modern elements and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
You can also hear a decent amount of solos and leads on some of the tracks along with a small amount of clean singing being utilized at times and the vocals can also be very deep and demonic on some of the songs and there are also a couple of instrumental tracks which also adds to the diversity this album produces.
Norot plays a style of occult black metal that is very atmospheric, ritualistic, original and diverse sounding, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover left hand path themes and the archetype of the serpemt and it's relation in gnosis.
In my opinion Norot are a very great sounding ritualistic and atmospheric occult black metal project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE 'The Dreaming Maelstrom" "The End Of All Things" "Her Woven Abyss" and "Serpent Of Fire". 8 out of 10.
