Theosis are a duo from Greece that plays an occult form of black metal and this is a review of their 2014 cassette "Ierotelestia" which was released by Mercyful Hell Productions.
Ritualistic sounds and chants start off the album along with some synths a few seconds later and after the intro spoken word parts are added onto the recording adding more of an occult atmosphere before going into more of a raw and old school black metal direction and a good portion of the tracks are very long and epic in length.
There are a great amount of blast beats when the music goes into a faster musical direction while the songs also add in melodic guitar leads at times and the vocal approach the band uses is very deep and grim sounding black metal screams and the songs also use a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and they also keep a very ritualistic and occult atmosphere throughout the recording along with a few intro's while th e main focus on on a raw and melodic style of black metal.
Theosis plays a style of occult black metal that is very raw in the 90's tradition yet very melodic and ritualistic at the same time, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover Satanism, Occultism and Left Hand Path themes.
In my opinion Theosis are a very great sounding occult black metal duo and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this cassette. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Rite Of Conjuration" "The Awakening" and "The Ruler Of Cosmic Existence". 8 out of 10.
