Germany's Lebensnacht have returned with a new album continuing the atmospheric black metal sounds of previous recordings with the album being called "A Raging Storm Of Apocalypse" which will be released on February 20th by Naturmacht Productions.
Rain sounds and synths which also use a variety of many different keys start off the album giving the recording an atmospheric feeling and once the music gets heavy it retains the atmosphere while also adding in grim black metal screams while also taking the heavier parts into more of a darker and rawer musical direction.
A good portion of the tracks are very long and epic in length and clean playing along with acoustic guitars can also be heard in the music at times as well as a small amount of spoken word parts while some of the riffs also bring in more of a modern and melodic atmospheric sound and when the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats can be heard.
In the faster sections of the songs the music goes for more of a raw style of black metal and throughout the recording you can hear a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and as the album progresses nature sounds also start making a return at times along with one of the tracks being all instrumental and later tracks also bring in a brief use of guitar leads that stay away from solos while one song also adds in melodic chants.
Lebensnacht creates an album that has the perfect balance between rawness and atmosphere while also adding in a small amount of melody to create a very dark atmospheric black metal album, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover nature, humans, life and death themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding album from Lebensnacht and if you are a fan of atmospheric black metal, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The End Is Near" "Frostbitten Ashland's" and "Into Cosmic Eternity". 8 out of 10.
