Spektr are a band from France that plays an industrial form of ambient black metal and this is a review of their 2016 album "The Art To Disappear" which was released by Agonia Records.
Experimental sounds start off the album before adding in spoken word parts and heavy guitars and you can also hear all of the musical instruments on the recording have a very powerful sound to them and elements of industrial and modern black metal can be heard throughout the whole album and the riffs also add melodies into some parts of the songs.
When guitar leads are added they are very distorted yet complex sounding and when the music speeds up a brings in more of a raw style of black metal along with a small amount of blast beats and some of the tracks are very long and epic in length and some songs also bring in more of an underground style of electronic music.
A great amount of diversity can be heard quite a bit throughout the recording along with a great amount of ambient, dark blues and avant jazz touches and there are also a great amount of instrumentals present throughout the recording and as the album progresses the songs start bringing in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and some of the heavier riffs also bring in a small amount of death metal influences.
Spektr creates an album that has its roots in black metal while also being very experimental and adding in a great amount of industrial elements to create a style of their own, the production sounds very professional while the song themes focus on density of immateriality and the dark sid of the human mind.
In my opinion Spektr are a very great sounding experimental and industrial mixture of black metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Through the Darkness Of Future Past" "That Day Will Definitely Come" and "The Art To Disappear". 8 out of 10.
