Pogavranjen are a band from Croatia that plays a psychedelic and avant garde form of black metal and this is a review of their 2016 album "Jedka Cekan Da Nikad Ne Umren" which will be released in February by Arachnophobia Records.
A very dark avant garde style synth starts off the album along with a heavier sound being mixed in a few seconds later as well as some melodic guitar leads while psychedelic elements can also be heard at times and on the second tracks acoustic guitars are added into the music along with some clean singing vocals.
A great portion of the tracks are very long and epic in length and you can also hear all of the musical instruments that are present on the recording and after awhile grim black metal vocals also make their presence known on some of the tracks and all of the songs stick mostly to a slow or mid paced musical direction while the music speeds up a little bit on the last track and also brings in a brief use of blast beats along with a few seconds of spoken word parts.
Pogavranjen plays a musical style that while it has its roots in black metal they change things around by being more avant garde and experimental along with some progressive elements, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics are written in Croatian and cover nihilism themes.
In my opinion Pogavranjen are a very great sounding avant garde black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Maitreya" and "Kalpa". 8 out of 10.
