Ygfan Interview

1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the band?

Ygfan is a band from Hungary and I think it couldn’t be manifestated in any other place… At least in this form. There are lots of cultural roots that determined our creativity. It is not good or bad, just there is…

2.So far you have released an ep, how would you describe the musical sound that is presented on the recording?

It is a very difficult question! We are coming from several genres and we believe that we are creating a unique thing, but I think I leave you to find the answer for this question.

3.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the music?

The first material is a concept one. It is based on the symbol of fog and the feelings that awakes from me. It is a very impressive symptom and the lyrics have several layers. I don’t want to interpret them deeply...

4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Ygfan'?

Our name, Ygfan has several aspects. First, it is a historical place in the ancient Hungarian Kingdom but for us it is much more interesting in the spiritual way what it holds for us. It is a holy secret place, a dense forest, which is in every human being…

5.What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and also how would you describe your stage performance?

I think we are playing better and better shows and we get better and better possibilites in these fields. There is nothing special, four mates playing music in an intense way. In the future we try to do our gigs much more special.

6.Do you have nay touring or show plans for the future?

It is depends on the possibilites. Most of us enjoy the concerts very much. I usually do not but if there is a good offer, then…

7.So far you have worked with 'Fekete Terror' and 'A Sad Sadness Song', do you feel these 2 labels have been very supportive when it comes to getting your music out there heard?

Fekete Terror is a small Hungarian label, focus on tapes. They work very hard and I can recommend them courageously. We have just started to work with A Sad Sadness Song recently, so we are very exciting about the future!

8.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of black metal?

It is hard to split our „fans”, that who is a black metal fan or who is not. These categories are not important for us. What we are playing is not black metal! We started something of those echoes are coming from everywhere…

9.When can we expect a full length album and also where do you see the band heading into  musically during the future?

It is very early to speak about our next materials. We have 5-6 new songs and a tons of themes…

10.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

As I already wrote, we are coming from several genres, so I can’t mention only one. We don’t want to build walls around us. Therefore the creative process could be very slow and difficult. The aim is that all of us could feel this creature as their own.

11.What are some of your non musical interests?

We are working in several fields in our civil lives and it is a hard to fight every day as many bands do all over the world. Most of us has families, children, so the priorities are different. The history of the human beings, the religions, believes in the transcendental and the nature are the common interests and the lyrics are based on them too.

12.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?

Thank you for this interview. Look into the inner regions! It was Zsolt from Ygfan.
