Armagh are a band from Poland that plays a raw mixture of black, thrash and heavy metal and this is a review of their 2016 ep "Venomous Frost" which was released by Third Eye Temple.
A very dark and melodic guitar lead starts off the ep along with some heavy riffs a few seconds later and drums a few seconds later and after a couple of minutes elements of thrash are added onto the recording and when the music speeds up it goes for more of a raw style of black metal that also uses a great amount of blast beats.
Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams while the influence from that genre is mostly in the first and second wave traditions and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and the solos and leads also remain true to a melodic and old school style of metal and you can also hear all of the musical instruments that are present on the recording while some of the riffing and solos also mixes in elements of traditional metal and the whole ep sticks to a very heavy sound from beginning to ending of the recording and they also bring in a cover of Bathory's "Witchcraft". 8 out of 10.
Armagh plays a musical style that takes the first and second wave styles of black metal and mixes it in with thrash and heavy metal to create a very raw and heavy recording, the production sounds very raw and old school while the lyrics cover death, Satanism, nihilism and Occultism themes.
In my opinion Armagh are a very great sounding raw and old school mixture of black, thrash and heavy metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Eternal Awareness" and "Dark Procession". 8 out of 10.
