Svorg are a band from the United Kingdom that plays a very raw and satanic form form of black metal and this is a review of their self released 2016 album "In Spirit And Mist".
A very fast, r aw and melodic sound starts off the album along with a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats and when vocals kick in they are mostly high pitched and grim black metal screams and the music is mostly rooted in the 90's second wave style and also brings back a lot of the darkness of that era.
Throughout the recording there is a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and the solos and leads are also done in a melodic fashion and on some of the tracks the vocals bring in more of a depressive tone while also using growls briefly and one of the later tracks is very long and epic in length and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and a couple of later tracks also brings in a brief use of synths and acoustic guitars while t he main focus remains more on a heavy and raw style.
Svorg plays a style of black metal that is very raw in the old school tradition while also having a depressive edge at times along with some melodic moments, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover Satanism, Occultism and Darkness themes.
In my opinion Svorg are a very great sounding raw and satanic black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Dark Ritual" "Ceremony Of Satanas" and "Void of Despair". 8 out of 10.
