Zoromr are a solo project from Poland that plays a melodic form of occult black metal and this is a review of his 2016 ep "The Aftermath" which will be released in June by Via Nocturna.
Thunder and rain sounds start off the ep along with some drum beats a few seconds later that also takes the music into a heavier direction along with some dark sounding synths and after awhile high pitched black metal screams make their presence known on the recording and clean playing can also be heard in some songs.
At times the music has a very haunting and ritualistic atmosphere and when the music speeds up a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can be heard which also gives the music more of a raw black metal feeling and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them while the solos are done in a very melodic fashion.
Elements of doom metal can be heard in the slower sections of the songs and the tracks also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and you can also hear elements of thrash and traditional metal in some of the riffs and leads while some of the heavier riffing also adds in a touch of death metal and one track the synths bring in an avant garde style that would fit in a classic horror movie and the black metal side is very heavily rooted in the 90's while still being done in more of a modern fashion.
Zorormr plays a style of occult black metal that is very raw and melodic while also being very ritualistic at times as well as being a little bit more original than other groups of the same style, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover Satanism, Occultism, Left hand Path and Lovecraft themes.
In my opinion Zoromr are a very great sounding raw, melodic and ritualistic black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Last Judgement" and "Arise Cthulu Arise". 8/5 out of 10.
