Svoid are a band from Hungary that plays an anti cosmic form of post black metal and this is a review of their 2016 album "Storming Voices Of Inner Devotion" which will be released on April 18th by Sun & Moon Records.
Grim screams and ritualistic sounds start off the album along with a small amount of atmospheric synths which also leads up to a heavier bass guitar sound and clean, distorted yet melodic riffing being added onto the recording and after while the grim screams start bringing in more of a black metal approach.
Clean singing can be heard in the music at times along with some elements of indie rock and post punk and when the music speeds up a small amount of blast beats can be heard and the solos and leads also use a great amount of melody and some of the riffing and solos also brings in a touch of early 80's death and goth rock.
As the album progresses a brief use of female vocals be can be heard while tribal elements and clean singing male vocals can be heard on later tracks and when tremolo picking is utilized it brings in more of a raw style of black metal and they also bring in a brief ambient track which still has a ritualistic feeling while the following songs go back to more of a guitar orientated sound and clean playing also makes a brief return.
Svoid plays a musical style that takes the anti cosmic Swedish style of black metal and mixes it with post punk and indie rock to create a very original sound of their own, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover void, anti cosmic chaos and Occultism themes.
In my opinion Svoid are a very great sounding anti cosmic, post black metal band and if you are looking for something very original, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Crown Of Doom" "Eternal" "Forlorn Heart" and "In Damnation Vast". 8 out of 10.
