Battle Dagorath are a duo with members from both the United States and Germany and also plays an epic and atmospheric form of black metal and this is a review of their 2016 album "I-Dark Dragons Of The Cosmos" which was released by Avantgarde Music.
Dark ambient style synths start off the album and on the second track the music starts going into a heavier direction while also keeping the atmospheric and ambient elements while also adding in high pitched black metal screams and when the music speeds up a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can be heard.
During the faster sections of the songs the music brings in a more raw style of black metal and a great portion of the tracks are very long and epic in length and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and when solos and leads are utilized they are done in a very melodic fashion
Classical guitars can also be heard in certain sections of the recording and the riffs also add in melodies into some parts of the tracks and one song also brings in a brief use of thunder and rain sounds before returning back to a heavier direction and there is also a brief use of clean playing and the last track is an ambient instrumental.
Battle Dagorath plays a style of black metal that is very epic and atmospheric while also having its raw and melodic moments as well as mixing in elements of ambient music to create a sound of their own, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover catharsis through worship of ancient powers and magnetism.
In my opinion Battle Dagorath are a very great sounding epic and atmospheric black metal duo and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Phantom Horizons Beyond" and "Transfixion Of The Spheres". 8 out of 10.
