Bornholm are a band from Hungary that plays an occult form of black/pagan metal and this is a review of their 2016 album "Primaevel Pantheons" which will be released in December by massacre Records.
Epic sounding keyboards start off the album and they also mix in with the heavier sound of the recording which also uses a great amount of melodic guitar leads and when the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats can be heard which also gives the music more of a raw feeling and the vocals are mostly grim black metal screams.
Clean singing pagan vocals can be heard in the music at times and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and the fast riffs also use a great amount of tremolo picking and as the album progresses acoustic guitars can also be heard briefly and a couple of the tracks are very long and epic in length.
Bornholm plays a style of pagan black metal that is very raw, melodic and epic sounding, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover Paganism, Heathenism, Occultism, Philosophy and History themes.
In my opinion Bornholm are a very great sounding occult black/pagan metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Eye of Knowledge" "Runes Of Power" "Iron Crown" and "Imperium (Divus Rex)'. 8 out of 10.
