Dominus Ira are a band from Russia that plays a very raw form of black metal and this is a review of their 2016 album "Gallery Of Infernal Grotesque" which was released by Echo Abyssi.
A very dark and atmospheric synth starts off the album giving the music the atmosphere of a classic horror movie and after awhile the music goes into a very fast and raw black metal direction which also uses a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats while the vocals are mostly grim screams.
When solos and leads are utilized they are dine in a very raw and melodic style and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and clean singing can be heard in certain sections of the recording and the riffs also bring in a decent amount of melody at times and the synths also mix in with the heavier parts briefly and most of the tracks are very long and epic in length and some songs also bring in a small amount of acoustic guitars while the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
Dominus Ira plays a style of black metal that is very raw and old school while also having a small amount of synths and acoustic guitars but t he main focus remains mostly on the heavier side, the production sounds very dark, r aw and old school while the lyrics cover existential themes.
In my opinion Dominus Ira are a very great sounding raw and old school style black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RE$COMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "When Life Becomes The Shadow Of Death" and "Voices Of the Dead Whisper In Veins". 8 out of 10.
