Fluisteraars are a band from the Netherlands that has been featured before in this zine and plays a very raw, melodic, epic and atmospheric form of black metal and this is a review of their 2016 ep "Gelderland" which will be released on October 28th by Eisenwald.
Drum beats along with a very fast and raw black metal sound that also uses a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats along with some grim yet high pitched black metal screams starts off the ep and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and the riffs also use a great amount of melody.
When solos and leads are utilized they are done in a very melodic, modern and atmospheric style of black metal and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and on the last track acoustic guitars are added in briefly before returning back to a more heavy style and the vocals also start utilizing a more depressive edge..
Fluisteraars plays a style of black metal that takes the rawness of the second wave European bands and mixes it in with the melody and atmosphere of the Cascadian and other North American styles to make 2 songs that stand out, the production sounds very raw and heavy while the lyrics are written in Dutch and cover nature themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Fluisteraars and if you are a fan of raw, epic and atmospheric black metal, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Stuk". 8 out of 10.
