Sulferon are a band from Greece that plays a very raw and satanic form of occult black metal and this is a review of their 2016 album "Carmina Infernalis" which was released by Celtic Fog Productions.
Drum beats along with some atmospheric synths start off the album and spoken word samples are also used briefly before going into avery fast and raw direction which also sees blast beats and high pitched black metal screams being added onto the recording and the riffs also use a great amount of dark sounding melodies.
Most of the music is rooted in the early 90's second wave style and you can also hear all of the musical instruments that are present on the recording and when guitar leads are utilized they are done in a very and melodic fashion and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
A lot of the riffs also utilize a great amount of tremolo picking and a couple of the tracks are very long and epic in length and as the album progresses acoustic guitars can also be heard in certain sections of the recording and there is also a brief use of demonic growls on a couple of songs which also adds in a slight death metal influence and one track also adds in a small amount of Gregorian chants and they close the album with a cover of Immortal's "Mountains Of Might".
Sulferon plays a style of satanic, occult black metal that is more rooted in the 90's era of the genre, the production sounds very raw and heavy while the lyrics cover Satanism, Occultism, Heathenism, and Anti Christian themes.
In my opinion Sulferon are a very great sounding raw and satanic black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Sword Of Leviathan" "Cthonia Hecate" "The Devil Walks Wallachia" and "A Destiny Of Sin And Sulfur". 8/5 out of 10.
