Heirdrain are a solo project from Canada that plays a mixture of black metal, done, and ambient and this is a review of his 2011 album "Lonely Soul" which was released by Smell the Stench.
A very dark yet heavy sound starts off the album along with some evil sounding melodies and drones and depressive black metal cries are added onto the recording after awhile and you can also hear a touch of doom metal in the guitar riffing and all 4 of the tracks are very long and epic in length and the music also incorporates a great amount of ambient elements and on the track the vocals start utilizing more screams and darker voices and all of the songs stick to a very slow musical direction.
Heirdrain plays a musical style that takes depressive black metal, drone and ambient and mixes them together to create a sound of his own, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover darkness and injustice themes.
In my opinion Heirdrain are a very great sounding mixture of depressive black metal, d ark ambient and drone and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this solo project. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Judgement" and "injustice". 8 out of 10.
