Sectasys are a band from Venezuela that plays a mixture of black and death metal and this is a review of their 2016 album "Brotherhood Of Chaos" which was released as a joint effort between Satanath and Evil's Records.
Ritualistic sounding percussion's along with synths and esoteric female chanting start off the album and after the intro grim black metal screams along with death metal growls a re added onto the recording as well as a great amount of melodic and heavy riffing and the solos and leads also use a great amount of melody.
When the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats can be heard and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and when tremolo picking is utilized it gives the songs more of a raw black metal feeling and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them.
The music has a lot of influences from both the 90's era of black and death metal along with the melodies adding in a Swedish influenced style and as the album progresses clean playing and classical guitars can be heard briefly and some of the heavier riffing also adds in a touch of thrash and female vocals also return briefly on a couple of later tracks.
Sectasys plays a musical style that takes a 90's influenced style of raw and melodic black metal and mixes it with death metal to create a sound of their own, the production sounds very old school yet heavy at the same time while the lyrics cover Occultism and Anti Christian themes.
In my opinion Sectasys are a very great sounding mixture of black and death metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACSK INCLUDE "I Am The Dark God" "Brotherhood Of Chaos" "Masters Of War" "The Goddess Of Death(Kali)". 8 out of 10.
