Nemesis Sopor are a band from Germany that has been featured before in this zine and plays a very atmospheric form of black metal and this is a review of their 2017 album "MMXL" which will be released in February by Geisterasche Organization.
Atmospheric sounding synths start off the album and after a few seconds they mix in with the faster sound which also uses a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats which also gives the songs more of a raw feeling and acoustic guitars are also added into the music at times while the vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams.
When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are done in a very atmospheric, melodic and modern style and you can also hear all of the musical instruments that are present on the recording and the vocals also deep at times while the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
A lot of the riffs also bring in a great amount of melody and spoken word parts are also added into certain sections of the recording and most of the tracks are very long and epic in length and the acoustic guitars also gives the music more of a progressive feeling and you can also hear the cascadian influence in the bands musical style and they also bring in a brief acoustic instrumental before returning back to a heavier direction and clean singing along with whispers can also be heard at times and a later track is another instrumental but done in a more heavy style.
Nemesis Sopor creates another recording that remains true to the atmospheric style of black metal from their previous releases, the production sounds very raw and heavy while the lyrics are written in German and cover nature an mankind themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Nemesis Sopor and if you are a fan of atmospheric black metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Untertan" "Despot" and "Atarax". 8 out of 10.
