Fenris are a band from the Netherlands that plays a mixture of black, viking and death metal and this is a review of their self released 2016 album "......En Doodenakkers Tot Den Horizon".
Distorted yet melodic guitar leads start off the album and a few seconds later spoken word parts are added on the recording and after the intro the music starts adding in more heavier riffing along with some grim yet high pitched black metal screams and when the music speeds up a great amount of blast beta can be heard.
Death metal growls are also used quite a bit throughout the recording and all of the musical instruments on the album have a very powerful sound to them while the riffing also mixes in a great amount of melody and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and some songs also bring in a small amount of clean playing and acoustic guitars and a few of the tracks are also very long and epic in length and the tremolo picking also gives the songs more of a raw black metal feeling.
Fenris plays a musical style that takes black, viking, and death metal and mixes them together to create a sound of their own, the production sounds very professional for being a self released recording while the lyrics cover Nordic Mythology and Darkness themes.
In my opinion Fenris are a very great sounding mixture of black, viking, and death metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Black Ashes" "834" and "Descend'. 8 out of 10.
