Goatkraft Interview

1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the band?

We created Goatkraft in the beginning of 2017. We had a plan to start It long time a go but there was always a lack of time. There is not much history behind Goatkraft, apart from that we had rehearse for few months and recorded songs that later on appeared on “War Metal – Promo 2017” and “Angel Slaughter “ mini album. We got the the deal with Iron Bonehead Productions in september.

2.So far you have released a demo and have an ep, coming out in March, how would you describe the musical sound that is presented on both of the recordings and also how do they differ from each other?

Its War Metal. They are not so different appart from that we have used different tunning in “Demoniac”

3.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects you have explored so far with your music?

Death hatred and destruction.

4.The band is from Norway that has a huge history with black metal but does not seem to have many war or bestial black metal bands, do you feel you are a lot more different than most bands from your home country?

You are right. It doesnt. As far as I know we are the only War Metal band from Norway. If we would be the same as other bands, we would be making Norsk Black Metal I guess. Hard to say. We dont think so much about other bands. We concentrate mainly on Goatkraft. Beside the best days of Norwegian scene have passed long time ago, unfortunately.

5.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Goatkraft'?

Its really simple. Its a mix of two words. In which word GOAT is an acronim made from the first spells of our names. Word KRAFT means “force” in Norwegian. We were looking for “classic” name which would be a reflection of our music and of ourselves in the same time.

6.What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and also how would you describe your stage performance?

Goatkraft havent played live yet.

7.Do you have any touring or show plans for the future?

Yes, we are thinking about gigs, but no plans has been made yet. We will surely consider every proposition.

8.On the recordings you have also done 'Blasphemy' and 'Black Witchery' covers, what was the decision behind doing your own versions of these songs?

We did Blasphemy because its the oldest and most honoroured War Metal band. When it comes to Black Witchery, I’ ve choosed it, cause their “Hellstorm of Evil Vengeance” had a huge impact on me when it was released. European scene were overflooded with symphonic bands at that time so when this split was released I was like: Fuck Yeah, now we ‘re talking. Until now its one of the best splits ever released though it was almost 20 years ago.

9.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of black and war metal?

It was good so far. I belive we will get some more after “Angel Slaughter” release, when maniacs will be able to hear more of our music.

10.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

We are not planning to change our style. I can tell you now, that Goatkraft full lenght album, which we will begin to record in few days from now on, will be more intense and faster then “Angel Slaughter”, so there is more brutal stuff to come.

11.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

Blasphemy, Beherit, Black Witchery, Conqueror, Bestial Warlust... had the bigest influence on Goatkraft I think. We like also some other stuff like ritual ambient or horror soundtracks as well as tones of other music... Nowadays I was listening to new albums of Tetragrammacide and Vassafor and like them a lot. Also Necrobode demo was really good.

12.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?

Thanks for interview. Support Goatkraft by buying “Angel Slaughter” mini album which will be  released by mighty Iron Bonehead Productions on CD and LP formats 09.03.2018. Death and Destruction.
