Betula are a solo project from Ukraine that plays a national socialist form of black metal and this is a review of their 2017 album "I Surely Like The Words Of Hate You Say" which was released by Vacula Productions.
An atmospheric and epic sounding intro starts off the album along with some clean playing also being utilized at times before going into a very fast and raw musical direction which also uses a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats as well as all of the musical instruments having a very powerful sound to them.
Vocals are mostly grim black metal screams while some of the tracks are very long and epic in length along with the songs also bringing in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts as well as one of the song being an instrumental that also introduces acoustic guitars onto the recording and as the album progresses a brief use of semi melodic vocals can also be heard and after an ambient track the album closes with a cover of Meduza's "Be Someone Else".
Betula plays a style of national socialist black metal that i very raw and epic sounding, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics history, battles, folklore and hatred themes.
In my opinion Betula are a very great sounding national socialist black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genres, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Flames" "And I Surely Like The Words Of hate You Say" and "Be Someone Else". 8 out of 10.
