Fleurs du Mal are a band from Ukraine that pays a very depressive form of post black metal and this is a review of their 2013 album "And I Can Suffer Crying Blood" which was re-issued in 2017 by Vacula Productions.
Clean yet distorted playing starts off the album before adding in drum beats and post rock style guitar leads along with some elements of shoegaze while atmospheric sounding synths can also be heard at times and after awhile depressive black metal screams start to make their presence known.
Melodic vocals can also be heard at times while all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them along with all of the tracks being very long and epic in length, clean playing is also used on some of the later tracks as well as both the riffs and leads also using a decent amount of melody, acoustic guitars can also be heard briefly and all of the music sticks to a slow direction.
Fleurs du Mal plays a style of post black metal that is also very atmospheric and depressive sounding, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover dark and depressive themes.
In my opinion Fleurs du Mal are a very great sounding depressive post black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this re-issue. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Illusory Night" and "The last Moment". 8 out of 10.
