Dark Archive are a duo from Finland that plays a satanic and occult form of black metal and this is a review of their 2018 ep "Cultivate Our Blood In Aeon" which was released by Inverse Records.
Acoustic guitar playing starts off the ep along with the music getting more heavier a few seconds later before going into a faster direction which also utilizes a great amount of blast beats while the vocals are mostly black metal screams along with a few death metal growls as well as the riffs also using a great amount of melody.
When tremolo picking is utilized it gives the songs a more raw feeling along with the solos and leads being done in a very melodic fashion while spoken word parts are also used briefly as well as the music bringing in a great amount of 90's influences but also sounding very modern at the same time and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts, acoustic guitars also return on some of the later tracks and one song also introduces keyboards onto the recording.
Dark Archive plays a style of satanic black metal that is very raw, melodic and atmospheric sounding, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover Satanism and Occultism themes.
In my opinion Dark Archive are a very great sounding satanic and occult black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Closure Of Empyrean Delirium" and "Essence Of Death". 8/5 out of 10.
