Era Distolas are a band from the Netherlands that plays a very satanic form of occult black metal and this is a review of their self released 2018 ep "Civitas Diaboli".
Clean playing and distorted amp sounds start off the ep before going into a very fast and raw musical direction which also uses a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats along with all of the musical instruments having a very powerful sound to them and the vocals range from deep to high pitched black metal screams.
Spoken word parts can also be heard at times while the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with the solos and leads also being done in a very melodic style as well as the second track also adding in more of a middle eastern atmosphere which also makes the music have more of an occult feeling and keyboards are also used briefly and they are done in more of a 90's style.
Era Distolas plays a style of occult black metal that is very raw, melodic and atmospheric style, the production sounds very powerful for being a self released recording while the lyrics cover a call for an Utopian society founded on Satanic principles celebrating reason, wisdom and knowledge.
In my opinion Era Distolas are a very great sounding satanic occult black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACK "The Nailed God". 8 out of 10.
