This is a review of a split album between Finland's The True Werwolf and Druadan Forest which will be released in August by Werewolf Records and we will start off the review with The True Werwolf a solo project that plays a mixture of black metal and dark ambient.
His side of the split starts out with some programmed beats before adding into some synths which also bring in a mixture of dark ambient and dungeon synth while his track is also more than 20 minutes in length along with the music being mostly instrumental and after awhile nature sounds and spoken word parts can also be heard briefly and the production sounds very dark.
In my opinion The True Werwolf is a very great sounding mixture of black ambient and dungeon synth and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this solo project.
Next up is Druadan Forest a solo project that plays a mixture of epic black metal and ambient.
His side of the split starts out with some dark soundscapes and an epic dungeon synth style which is also very heavily rooted in the 90's while the track is more than 20 minutes in length along with a brief use of thunder sounds as well as all of the music being mostly instrumental and as the song progresses spoken word parts are added into the music and the production sounds very dark.
In my opinion Druadan Forest is a very great sounding mixture of black ambient and dungeon synth and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this solo project.
In conclusion I feel this is a very great sounding split and I would recommend it to all fans of dungeon synth and black ambient. 8 out of 10.
