Germany's duo Dauþuz have returned with a new recording which continues their raw and melodic style of black metal and this is a review of their 2018 ep "Des Zwerges Fluch" which will be released on August 25th by Naturmacht Productions.
Field Recordings along with some classical guitars start off the ep before going into a heavier direction while the riffs also use a great amount of dark sounding melodies along with the faster sections of the songs also using a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats which give the songs a more raw feeling.
Vocals bring in a mixture of grim growls and high pitched black metal screams while melodic chants can also be heard briefly along with the solos and leads also bringing in a great amount of melody as well as a great portion of the tracks being very long and epic in length.
All of the musical instruments on the recording have a very powerful sound to them while the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with some whispers, spoken word parts and shouts also being used briefly and when clean vocals a re utilized it gives the music more of a pagan metal feeling and they also bring in a couple of acoustic tracks.
Dauþuz creates another recording that remains true to their raw and melodic black metal style along with some elements of folk music, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics are written in German and cover tales of dwarves and their evil magick against human intruders.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Dauþuz and if you are a fan of raw and melodic black metal, you should check out this ep. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Steinhammer" and "Als mein Geleucht fur immer erlosch". 8 out of 10.
