Norway's Einherjer have returned with a live recording which shows them taking their viking style of black metal to the stage and this is a review of their 2022 album "Norse And Dangerous (Live... From The Land Of Legends)" which will be released in August by Napalm Records.
Live audience reaction and drum beats start off the album along with some heavy riffing a few seconds later. All of the musical instruments on the recording also having a very powerful sound to them while the vocals are mostly grim black metal screams and elements of black'nroll can also be heard on some of the tracks.
The riffs also add in a decent amount of melody while the guitar solos and leads are also done in a very melodic style and change depending on which also they are performing from. Back up shouts can also be heard in certain sections of the recording along with one song also introducing synths onto the album, later tracks also introduce clear pagan vocals into the music. Clean playing can also be heard on a couple of songs and the whole album sticks to either a slow or mid tempo direction.
On this live recording Einherjer focuses mostly on their newer material but close the album with some older material and also stick mostly to mid tempo viking metal direction. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics are written in a mixture of English and Norwegian and cover Nordic Mythology themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Einherjer and if you are a fan of this band, you should check out this live album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Spirit Of A Thousand Years" "Stars" "Dragons of The North" and "Far Far North". 8 out of 10.
