Daius are a band from Romania that plays a pagan form of black metal and this is a review of their 2022 album "Ascuns" which was released by Sleaszy Rider Records.
Acoustic guitars start off the album before going into more of an atmospheric and heavier musical direction. Folk instruments can also be heard in some parts of the recording while the faster sections of the songs also add in a great amount of tremolo picking and blast b eats which also gives the music more of a raw feeling.
Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams while t he solos and leads are also done in a very melodic style. Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with a couple of tracks also introducing clear vocals and spoken word parts onto the recording, a small amount of keyboards are also added on ther closing track.
Daius plays a style of pagan black metal that is very epic and atmospheric sounding as well as adding in touches of folk music to create a sound of their own. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics are written in Romanian and cover Paganism themes.
In my opinion Deius are a very great sounding pagan black metal band and if you are a fan of this muscal genre, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Suler" and "Ascons". 8 out of 10.
