Skade are a solo project from Norway that plays a very raw and lo-fi form of black metal and this is a review of his self released 2022 album "Gudinnen".
Tragic sounding keyboards start off the album before going into a very fast and raw musical direction which also utilizes a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats. Vocals are mostly high pitched black metal screams along with the music also capturing a very lo-fi atmosphere at times.
Melodies can also be heard in some of the guitar riffing while the music also mixes in influences from both the old school and modern era's of the genre. Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with the solos and leads also being done in a very dark yet distorted style when they are utilized.
Spoken word parts can also be heard in certain sections of the recording along with some of the songs going into more of an experimental direction without losing the rawness as well as some acoustic guitars and clean playing also being added on a couple of the tracks, clear vocals and stringed instruments can also be heard briefly towards the end. The production sounds very dark, raw and lo-fi while the lyrics are written in Norwegian and cover dark themes.
In my opinion Skade are a very great sounding raw, lo-fi and experimental black metal solo project that sounds nothing like his Norwegian counterparts and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Alltid vake" "Lukker ditt oye" "Dypt inni skogen" and "Gift med havet". 8 out of 10.
