Symuran are a band from Ukraine that combines pagan, black and death metal together and this is a review of their 2012 album "Syklus Av Helhiem" which was released by Metal Scrap Records.
Drums range from slow, mid paced to fast drumming with some blast beats being thrown into the music at times, while the bass playing has a very strong and powerful sound with heavy riffs that dominate throughout the recording, as for the synths they are only used on the last song and they bring a very dark and atmospheric sound to the music.
Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast riffs that combine pagan, black and death metal together to create a sound of their own with a great amount of dark sounding melodies being thrown into the riffing, while the lead guitars when they are utilized they are very melodic sounding guitar solos and leads.
Vocals range from high pitched black metal screams to deep death metal growls, while the lyrics cover war, paganism and death themes, as for the production it has a very strong and powerful sound where you can hear all of the musical instruments that are present on this recording in addition some of the songs are long and epic in length.
In my opinion Symuran are a very great sounding hybrid of pagan, black and death metal and if you are a fan of this musical style, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Firegod" and "Under The Runes of The Sun". RECOMMENDED BUY.
