Agarthi where a band from Italy that played a very atmospheric and melodic form of black metal and this is a review of their 1996 album "At The Burning Horizon" which was released by Red Stream.
Drums range from slow, mid paced to fast drumming with some blast beats being thrown into the music at times, while the keyboards bring a very dark and atmospheric sound to the music, as for the bass playing it has a very dark tone with riffs that follow the riffing that is coming out of the guitars.
Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast black metal riffs that utilize some raw and primitive elements as well as some dark sounding melodies and death metal influences being thrown into the riffing, while the lead guitars are very melodic sounding black metal guitar solos and leads that utilize a great amount of power metal influences.
Vocals are mostly grim sounding black metal screams mixed in with some clean singing as well as a brief use of spoken word parts, while the lyrics cover a concept story of 6 Daemons Invading Earth, as for the production it has a very dark, raw and primitive sound to it.
In my opinion Agarthi where a very great sounding atmospheric black metal band with a melodic edge and if you are a fan of this style of music, you should check out this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Burning Horizon" and "Black triangles Sovereigns". RECOMMENDED BUY.
