Denver, Colorado's duo Oaks of Bethel have returned with a new recording with the music going into an instrumental direction but still mostly rooted in ambient black metal and this is a review of their 2018 ep "Turing The Mystic Holding Wheel" which was released by EEE Recordings.
Clean playing and field recordings start off the track which is also 30 minutes in length along with some heavy yet atmospheric riffing a few seconds later while the tremolo picking gives the song a more raw feeling as well as the solos and leads being done in a very modern yet melodic fashion.
When the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats can be heard while all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them along with some clean playing being mixed in the background with the heavier riffs taking more of a dominant role and they also keep the same riff going on throughout the track for almost 20 minutes before letting the guitar leads take over as well as returning back to the same riff on and off for the remainder of the song.
On this recording Oak Of Bethel brings in another instrumental ambient track which is over 30 minutes while also bring in more of the modern atmospheric style and the production sounds very raw and lo-fi.
In my opinion this is another great sounding track from Oaks of Bethel and if you are a fan of instrumental ambient black metal, you should check out this recording. 8 out of 10.
