Runespell/Order Of Vengeance/Iron Bonehead Productions/2018 CD Review

  Runespell  are  a  solo  project  from  Australia  that  plays  a  very  raw,  melodic  and  epic  form  of  pagan  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2018  album  "Order  Of  Vengeance'  which  will  be  released in  July  by  Iron  Bonehead  Productions.

   Acoustic  guitar  playing  starts  off  the  album  before  going  into  a  very  fast  and  raw  musical  direction  which  also  uses  a  great  amount  of  blast  beats  and  tremolo  picking  while  the  vocals  are  mostly  grim  yet  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  and  most  of  the  tracks a re  very  long  and  epic  in  length.

  Throughout  the  recording  you  can  also  hear  a  great  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts  while  the  solos  and  leads  are  done  in  a  very  raw  yet  melodic  fashion  along  with  some  songs  also bringing  in  clean  pagan  chants  as  well  as  some  atmospheric  synths  also  being  used  at  times  and  the  music  also  has  a  lot  of  roots  in  the  90's  and  as  the  album  progresses  acoustic  guitars  also  make  a  brief  return  and  there  is  also  an  instrumental  before  returning  back  to  vocal  tracks.

  Runespell  plays  a  style  of  pagan  black  metal  that  is  very  raw,  melodic  and  epic  sounding,  the  production  sounds  very  raw  and  heavy  while  the  lyrics  cover  destiny,  medieval  and  virtue  themes.

  In  my  opinion  Runespell  are  a  very  great  sounding  raw,  melodic  and  epic  pagan  black  metal  solo  project  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  album.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Desting  Over  Dischord"  and  "Wolf  Axis".  8  out  of  10.
