Raven Throne are a band from Belarus that has been recently featured in this zine and plays a very atmospheric form of black metal and this is a review of their 2018 compilation "Biaskoncy snieh Casu/Niazhasnaje" which was released by Possession Productions and consists of their 2015 single and 2017 ep.
Nature sounds start off the compilation along with some acoustic guitars a few seconds later before going into more of a heavier musical direction while the riffs also use a great amount of melody along with the vocals being mostly grim black metal screams and the keyboards give the songs more of an atmospheric feeling.
Acoustic guitars are also added onto a couple of the tracks while the riffs also bring in a great amount of melody and when the music speeds up a decent amount of tremolo picking and blast beats can be heard which also gives the music more of a raw feeling along with the songs also sticking to mostly a slow or mid tempo direction as well as all of the musical instruments having a very powerful sound to them and one track also adds in a brief use of spoken word parts.
On this compilation you could still hear the pagan metal elements in Raven Throne's music while the direction was heading more into an atmospheric black metal direction, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics are written in Belarusian and cover the dark side of nature.
In my opinion this is another great sounding collection from Raven Throne and if you are a fan of atmospheric black metal, you should check out this compilation. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "My- vosieni vartauniku' and "II". 8 0ut of 10.
