Decayed are a band from Portugal that has had music reviewed before in this zine and plays a very raw and old school form of black metal and this is a review of their 2018 album "Of Fire And Evil" which was released by Lustanian Music.
Wind sounds and clean guitars start off the album along with a small amount of synths and tortured screams before going into a very fast and raw musical direction which also uses a great amount of blast beats and tremolo picking as well as the vocals being mostly high pitched black metal screams.
All of the musical instruments on the recording have a very powerful sound to them while the music is heavily rooted in the old school era of the genre along with the solos and leads also sticking to the classic era as well as a small amount of spoken word parts and ritualistic synths also being used on some tracks and clean guitars also make a brief return as the album progresses, the songs also being in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts.
Decayed creates another recording that remains true to their old school style of black metal, the production sounds very raw and heavy while the lyrics cover Occultism, Armageddon, Death and Blasphemy themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Decayed and if you are a fan of old school black metal, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "FireStorm" "Across The Sea" "Blasphemous Carnage" and "Of Fire And Evil". 8 out of 10.
