Host where a solo project from Poland that played an occult form of black metal with some touches of neo classical and this is a review of his self released 2018 compilation which consists of both of the demos he had released in 2002.
A very dark and heavy sound starts off the compilation along with some grim black metal screams a few seconds later while the faster sections of the songs also use a great amount of blast beats and tremolo picking which also gives the songs a more raw feeling as well as the solos and leads being done in a very melodic style.
Throughout the compilation you can also hear a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while a couple of the tracks are very long and epic in length along with the music also mixing in elements of neo-classical into the guitar leads as well as the music also mixing in a great amount of dark metal elements and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and towards the end a small amount of clean guitars can also be heard.
Host played a style of occult black metal that was very raw in the Eastern European tradition while the neo-classical style guitar leads gave the music more originality, the production sounds very dark and raw while the lyrics cover Occult, Magick and Mysticism themes.
In my opinion Host where a very great sounding occult black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this compilation. 8 out of 10.
