Outworlder is a solo project from Colorado that plays a mixture of a sci-fi mixture of ambient, darkwave and post black metal and this is a review of his 2019 album "Terraformation" which was released by Nailed Nazarene Industries.
A very heavy and atmospheric sound starts off the album while the synths also bring in elements of ambient and darkwave. Programmed beats are also utilized quite a bit throughout the recording along with the music also capturing a sci-fi orientated atmosphere and the vocals are mostly depressive black metal screams.
When guitar solos and leads are utilized they are also done in a very melodic post metal style. The music also mixes in a great amount of shoegaze influences along with some songs also adding in more of a electronic dance music style mixed in with some heavier sounds as well as a couple of tracks also adding in a small amount of clean vocals and as the album progresses an instrumental is also added onto the recording and all of the music sticks to either a slow or mid tempo style.
Outworler plays a musical style that takes depressive post black metal, ambient, darkwave and experimental and mixes them together to create a sound of his own. The production sounds very dark while the lyrics cover science fiction themes.
In my opinion Outworlder is a very great sounding mixture of depressive post black metal, ambient, darkwave and experimental and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this solo artist. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Dead World I" "Water World" "Doomed Planet" and "Abandoned Technology". 8 out of 10.
