Svrm are a solo project from Ukraine that plays a very raw, experimental and atmospheric form of black metal and this is a review of his 2015 ep "7" which will be re-issued on January 31st by Dawnbreed Records.
A very fast and raw sound starts off the ep along with a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats. Melodies are also added into the guitar riffing while t he vocals are mostly grim yet high pitched black metal screams and the songs also mix atmospheric elements in the heavier sections of the songs.
When guitar leads are utilized they are done in a very distorted yet melodic style while the music also gets very experimental sounding at times along with some elements of noise. Acoustic guitars can also be heard briefly, all of the tracks also sound very different from each other and most of the songs stick to a faster musical direction as w ell as adding in some mid tempo sections briefly.
Svrm plays a style of black metal that is very fast, raw, atmospheric and experimental sounding. The production sounds very dark, raw and lo-fi while the lyrics are written in Ukrainian and cover death, despair and existence themes.
In my opinion Svrm are a very great sounding raw, atmospheric and experimental sounding black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this re-issue. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCL DUE "Mir" and "I". 8out of 10.
